Michael Jackson Statue Taken Off Manchester Museum After ‘Leaving Neverland Documentary’ Release
A statue of Michael Jackson has been removed from the National Football Museum in Manchester, England, following the U.K. release of the Leaving Neverland documentary.
In the film, which aired in the U.K. this week, Wade Robson and James Safechuck detail their allegations the late King of Pop sexually abused them for years, when they were children, at his Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
The statue had been displayed at the museum since 2014, but bosses opted to take it down in the wake of the accusations against Jackson.

The documentary, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah in January and first aired on TV in America on Sunday night, has also cost Jackson airplay in various countries as radio station producers have decided to boycott his music, and there are also reports the $250 million posthumous deal Jackson’s estate bosses made with Sony Music is in jeopardy over the film scandal.
But the King of Pop does have one high-profile supporter in rapper T.I., who insists the Leaving Neverland allegations against Jackson are “assaults against our culture”.
T.I. has taken to Instagram to speak out and defend Jackson.
Sharing a 1999 interview Jackson gave Piers Morgan, in which he denies abusing children, the rapper added the caption: “Let this man speak for himself to defend his legacy. Don’t just listen to one side and expect to find truth. Oh that’s right… Dead men can’t speak. So what was the point again? Destroy another strong black historical LEGEND?!?!”
T.I. then takes aim at Elvis Presley and Hugh Hefner’s alleged pedophilia, adding, “It’s several examples of pedophilia in American History… if y’all pulling up all our old s**t… we gotta examine ELVIS PRESLEY, HUGH HEPHNER (sic),and a whole slew of others guilty of the same if not more!!! BUT WHY US all the time? There’s an agenda to destroy OUR CULTURE.”
